I reached out to Mr. Gichner to do a basic review of my business agreement, as an independent contractor. Even though the contract seemed "straightforward" I had the feeling that something was off but I was not sure how “to put it in words”. The contract looked more like an agreement between an employer and employee than an agreement between a business owner and an independent contractor. Mr. Gichner carefully reviewed the agreement, answered all my questions and pointed out important things that needed my attention. He gave me ideas and strategies that I otherwise would have overlooked.
I am very happy that I took the step to understand my rights and obligations as an independent contractor. Having a lawyer review your agreement before signing it, can be the difference between agreeing to a good deal and a horrible one.
Mr. Gichner has profound knowledge in business related legal issues and is also very personable. He truly cares about his clients- as persons, not just as sources of revenues. I highly recommend him to any business small or large!
Benchmark Legal, PLLC assisted our small 501(c)(12) association with a comprehensive review and revision of our bylaws. Throughout the process they were extremely transparent and quick to respond to our questions—and they delivered exactly what they said they would at the price they quoted us from the beginning. To say that we are pleased would be an understatement.
Joshua Bam was extremely personable and easy to talk to. He composed agreements that were very very thorough, and he made sure to take through each clause in great detail and took the time to answer all of my questions - however naive the questions might be. I know that I have found my go to person for all my legal requirements! - Ticary Solutions LLC
"Starting your own nonprofit business can be very nerve racking as you are trying to know "EVERYTHING". Josh Bam was my first point of contact and made this so easy for me. He has this articulate ability to explain and keep me with an understanding. Then I met Ben who has the ability to connect with people in such an amazing way. They both understand what is needed from "your" perspective. They allow "you" to be involved and they help you insert yourself with your skills and ability. This smiling, wonderful, welcoming team spirit that they have is awesome. Thank you Benchmark Legal!"
"I had been putting off finding an attorney. I needed help getting a clear client agreement together. Ben was so easy to work with and got the work done quickly and to my complete satisfaction. Ben took a sincere interest in my business and I know I will use his services in the future."
"Ben and his team set up my business in the state of Washington. I had just moved from Virginia and had no idea what I needed to do to make everything legal here. Ben explained everything necessary, quoted a price, and got the work done with barely any effort on my part. I loved knowing that the legal portion of my move was well under control. And, I look forward to working with Ben and his team in the future!"
Several months ago, I was referred to Ben by a mutual friend that had consulted his services in the past. Even before my business partner and I became Ben's client, he was more than willing to provide us with advice, insights, and suggestions regarding our business venture. Since then, we have taken Ben on as our legal counsel and could not be more satisfied with the experience...and on several occasions he has actually helped us save money as a result of his recommendations.
"I cannot say enough about Benchmark Legal! While being professional, genuine, and responsive, they are also very approachable and make me feel like I am one of their most important clients. All my legal needs are met with fast response."
"Josh has been making sure our i's are dotted and t's crossed. The trust we have built and will continue to build over time is more valuable than retainer fees."
"Ben took my small business from an idea to an actual legal operating entity. He’s made the whole process so easy. He makes you feel safe like a good lawyer should."
Over the past two years, we have listened to hundreds of clients, colleagues, and other professionals regarding their legal questions surrounding business in general. These three questions came up so often that we just decided to write about them in this month’s blog post...
The fact is that most states have adopted the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, which broadly recognizes electronic signatures, but Washington State has not. That means you should know how Washington State’s internal law affects you and your business.
The digital age is changing everything for the legal profession. From electronic discovery to cyber-attacks, attorneys are facing new challenges every year, and their primary goal should be protecting their clients.
Legally, you shouldn't be calling it anything else. From energy balancing to touch and sensation services, more and more people are beginning to find comfort in “alternative health” services. Protecting yourself in the alternative health industry takes a keen understanding of where the licensing requirements begin and how tort and other laws work together.
A new industry is booming in the Pacific Northwest and Colorado, and other states like New York, Maryland and Pennsylvania are starting to follow suit. They all have the munchies for tax revenue and are starting to realize that legalization, medicinally or recreationally, of cannabis is not tied to higher crime rates or the end of times.
Some attorneys provide excellent service and high quality work, but most of them don't work from the client's point of view. Here's what we mean by the Benchmark difference...
Nobody likes chasing down customers and asking them to pay their bills. Learn how to effectively position your business to tackle cases of non-payment or late payment before they occur, as well as how to deal with a non-paying customer.
We have clients come to us all the time with name and color 'infringement' issues – someone has stolen their business identity. But when they haven't taken any steps to develop or protect that identity, it becomes really hard to guard their business identity from jealous eyes down the road.
Washington State is very strict about who can be an independent contractor. If you fail to adhere to these strict requirements, you could be liable for past and future employment benefits and state and federal taxes.
There was a time when flying a drone was all fun and games. The novelty of the 15 – 20 minute flight used to feel so futuristic watching the drone’s course from a little screen on the ground hundreds of feet below. Now, drone flights seem to be mostly business. From real estate surveys to film productions and the perfect wedding shot, drone operation is starting to become a major industry in the United States.
